Milliarium 2007 Split Rock Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

  1. $45
This is a very dry, silky and elegant Pinot Noir. It’s not shy, offering rich cherry, red currant, mocha, bacon and sandalwood flavors that finish in a swirl of spices. Good now, and should develop bottle complexities over the next six years.  — S.H.  (12/15/2009)

Milliarium 2007 La Encantada Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills)

  1. $49
Here’s a fresh, young, complicated Pinot Noir, dry and silky, and quite rich. The flavors now are all primary fruit, suggesting cherries, blackberries, raspberries and cola, with smoky sandalwood overtones. Needs time to develop complexity, and could age beyond 2012.  — S.H.  (12/15/2009)
