Mount Baker 2008 Proprietor’s Limited Release Malbec (Yakima Valley)

Fresh, spicy and crisp, this deft Malbec shines with pretty raspberry fruit and sharp acidity. Focused and clean, it’s a big step forward for this winery.  — P.G.   Published 5/1/2011

Mount Baker 2005 Reserve Viognier (Yakima Valley)

The fruit carries considerable sweetness, although the wine is probably under 1% RS. Peach, apricot and lemon drop candy flavors fill the mouth, with supporting acidity. The reserve designation suggests a much bigger wine; this is not that, but it is balanced and has surprising concentration and length.  — P.G.   Published 3/1/2008

Mount Baker 2006 Estate Madeline Angevine (Puget Sound)

This has interesting spice in both the nose and the mouth, a bit like sniffing fresh pine needles. There is also a whiff of rose petal and a streak of those floral flavors in the back of the palate. Just under 13% alcohol, this pretty white wine would pair up nicely with a delicate seafood dish.  — P.G.   Published 3/1/2008

Mount Baker 2007 Barrel Select Syrah (Yakima Valley)

This “Barrel Select” Syrah has been ripened to pruneyness, yet remains short, hot and simple. It could be any red grape left to hang late and fermented at (perhaps) high temperatures.  — P.G.   Published 12/1/2010

Mount Baker 2006 Roussanne (Yakima Valley)

This is an almost weightless, acidic and lightly peppery white wine that shows vague hints of pale citrus—lime and lemon, and fresh cilantro. It doesn’t taste much like the Roussanne varietal, but it might pass for a budget Grüner Veltliner in a blind tasting.  — P.G.   Published 3/1/2008
