Oyikil 2007 Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $30
A powerful, kicking style of Malbec with baked, leathery aromas and then a slightly grating palate full of black fruit, Bing cherry and olive flavors. The acidity really pushes the finish, so much so that it comes across a bit pushy and clangy. Could stand to be better balanced at $30.  — M.S.  (11/1/2009)

Oyikil 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
Rubbery and murky on the nose, with acid-propelled red-fruit flavors that are at once generic but also sharp-edged. Throughout this it’s an angular wine with boldness but not much levity. Can’t see it capturing much of a crowd at $30.  — M.S.  (11/1/2009)
