Pazo de Arribi 2010 Godello (Bierzo)

Round and melony, but also a bit heavy and mealy smelling, indicating that it’s starting to turn. Feels chunky, with lychee, sweet citrus and pithy flavors. Tan and burnished looking, with a soft nose that’s slightly floral but otherwise uncommitted. The palate is short and chunky, with mealy apple flavors and barely enough acidity to keep it pumping. Cidery on the finish; seems to be on the backslide.  — M.S.  (7/1/2011)
