Smells like figs and dates rolled in bread flour. Fruit on the palate has the same stewy quality—more a sign of vintage conditions than anything, I guess. Easy on the palate, it finishes with molasses.

The cherry and dried herb flavors are bright, to say the least, and perhaps too piquant. Thankfully, a dash of earth brings these high-toned notes down a little. Offers cream, caramel and dark fruit on the nose. —D.M.
