Perla del Garda 2007 Terre Lunari Red (Benaco Bresciano)

This is an inky, concentrated blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a tiny element of Cabernet Franc, from Brescia in northern Italy. It exhibits tertiary aromas of dried prune and plum, cherry liqueur, dried pipe tobacco and Indian spice box. There’s not much fresh berry fruit left on the bouquet, but the mouthfeel is crisp and fresh. Drink now.  — M.L.  (9/15/2011)
