This is an inky, concentrated blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a tiny element of Cabernet Franc, from Brescia in northern Italy. It exhibits tertiary aromas of dried prune and plum, cherry liqueur, dried pipe tobacco and Indian spice box. There’s not much fresh berry fruit left on the bouquet, but the mouthfeel is crisp and fresh. Drink now.

Packaged in a squat, ballooned bottle, this Lugana-based white (with 3% Chardonnay) delivers aromas of candied fruit, tangerine rind, pressed rose and a touch of caramel or butterscotch. The wine's finish is marked by a tart, sour grapefruit note.
