Quail Creek 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon

Young and purple, with strong aromas of cassis, dark chocolate and smoky vanilla. It’s surprisingly rich and dense; a layered wine with lots of interesting flavors. It’s also quite tannic, and will be better if aged for a few years. Contains 20% Syrah. Best Buy.  — S.H.  (8/1/2001)

Quail Creek 1999 Merlot

This is a simple, straightforward, everyday sort of wine, light in aroma and body, but with acceptable black-cherry, earthy flavors. It’s dry and clean. 20% Syrah adds complexity and notes of currants and meat. Best Buy.  — S.H.  (5/1/2001)

Quail Creek 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon

  1. $10
It hits all the right Cabernet notes of blackberry, plum, cassis, tobacco, mint and even chocolate. Dry and well structured, with fine acidity and modulated tannins. So why not a higher score? Because everything is very light. Nonetheless, it’s good value for the money.  — S.H.  (5/1/2001)

Quail Creek 1999 Chardonnay

  1. $10
A richly fruity, spicy, oaky wine that offers up plenty of what consumers like, in an everyday, affordable package. The fruit veers toward peaches and tropical fruit, and it’s a little sweet. Seems flabby around the edges, but not bad for the price.  — S.H.  (5/1/2001)
