This attractive blend of 53% Sémillon and 47% Riesling offers a bouquet of petrol and apricot, while the palate is lively, with honeyed flavors of caramel, vanilla and apricot. It’s a bit sticky on the finish, but overall this is an eye-opener. Drink now–2015.

Not often does a 2003 Chilean wine come onto the market now, but that’s the case with this earthy, mature Cabernet. Smells fully mature and tastes of stewed plum, caramel and brown sugar, then finishes with tobacco and smoothness. Has lost most of its pulse so drink now.

It’s almost impossible to distinguish this wine from Santa Monica’s Reserva Especial, but this seems to have more richness albeit the same herbal olive character and dryness of the supposedly more elevated bottling. Tastes of olive, leaves and dried red fruits, with a baked and spicy finish.

Brown in color, with green overtones on the bouquet that suggest lettuce, celery and tomato leaf. Scratchy and dry feeling as tomato, spice, olive and herbal plum flavors take over. Dry, peppery and leafy on the finish. A mature wine that is what it is.

A sweet nose with banana, lemon-lime, and pipe tobacco elements opens to a straightforward, rather tart palate with light apple and lemon flavors.
