Sweet and slightly viscous in texture, this wine lacks some aromatic flourishes, sacrificing complexity for purity of its pineapple, apple and citrus flavors. Yet because of its balanced, crisp acidity, the wine still sings, finishing long and mouthwatering. Drink now–2030.

Reasonably priced for an auslese, this medium-weight Riesling offers perfumes of clover blossom and poached apples and pears. On the palate, there’s a pronounced quince or citrus edge that provides balance, but also a slight hint of bitterness.

Fresh and floral on the nose, this is a clean, zesty example of kabinett, the type that was difficult to craft in 2006. Citrus and green apple flavors are true to type, with hints of fresh greens and spring flowers adding a bit of complexity.

Slightly sweet and low in acidity, Seebrich’s spätlese perfectly reflects the challenges of the vintage. Very ripe apples carry notes of cinnamon and clove, but finish a little soft. Drink now.

Peach, lemon meringue and pear meld with mineral flavors in a medium-bodied frame. There’s a good amount of residual sugar here and lovely grapefruit peel and stone fruit accents on the short-to-medium finish. Drink now.
