Silverwing 2004 Riesling (Adelaide Hills)

  1. $13
This Adelaide Hills Riesling has lively acidity and pretty talc-dust aromas. Its mineral and pannacotta flavors are delicate, and would ideally be a little more concentrated. Could be a factor of the ’04 vintage, in which I’ve found flavor concentration to be an issue. Imported by The Country Vintner.  — D.T.  (8/1/2006)

Silverwing 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz (Margaret River)

  1. $10
Meaty, mushroomy aromas lead to berry-basket flavors with a tart edge. Smoky, toasty oak adds some dimension to this drink-now red. Imported by The Country Vintner.  — D.T.  (8/1/2006)

Silverwing 2004 Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $10
It’s something to get a Yarra-appellation wine at a price like this. Smells quite nice, with hints of orange peel and burnt sugar dressing up sturdy red fruit. On the palate, tealike tannins put the wine’s cherry fruit in the back seat. Lean and almost tart, with tea and lemon notes on the finish.  — D.T.  (11/15/2006)

Silverwing 2005 Chardonnay (Yarra Valley)

  1. $10
This is a linear Chardonnay that gets from point A (light white peach and pineapple aromas) to point B (peach and mineral flavors) without any difficulty or fanfare. Made in a lighter, feminine style and will appeal to the oak-averse. Imported by The Country Vintner.  — D.T.  (8/1/2006)

Silverwing NV Brut Sparkling

  1. $11
Broad in the mouth and on the sweet side, this Chardonnay-Pinot Noir blend does offer some attractive gingery notes on the nose, while the flavors favor baked apples.  — J.C.  (12/31/2007)
