Sineann

Located in Oregon’s Chehalem Mountain AVA, Sineann Winery was founded by Peter Rosback and David O’Reilly in 1994. While Pinot Noir is the winery’s leading variety, other varieties produced include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. Winemaker Peter Rosback not only sources his grapes from Washington State, but his Sauvignon Blanc is made with New Zealand grapes and some of the red wines are made from Napa Valley-sourced varieties. As a small producer of mostly single vineyard-produced wines, Sineann is able to create wines that express both terroir as well as the typicity of each variety.

Sineann 2006 Resonance Reserve Pinot Noir

  1. $72
This is Sineann’s first reserve, a limited release from some old vine blocks from one of Oregon’s greatest Pinot vineyards, now fully biodynamic. As good as the “regular” Resonance is, this ramps it up another notch or two. The fruit ranges from cherry to prune; the acids are perfect, the barrel notes so well-concealed that you cannot separate them out. Streaks of…  — P.G.  (2/1/2008)

The Block One Cab from the Champoux vineyard (in Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills AVA) is one of Washington’s gold-plated, old vine sites, and the wineries who get that fruit are equally special. If any wine can blow away the thought that Merlot is a thin, wimpy, nondescript red, this is the wine.
