Flowery and textural, this is both concentrated and airy at the same time. It floats across the palate gracefully, the pretty fruit flavors of spiced pear and hints of honeydew are set up nicely by crisp, leesy acids. Good length and a fine, clean finish.

This comes from a 15-year-old vineyard planted to Alsatian clones at a higher elevation site in the Dundee Hills. It’s lacy, racy and refined; the tangy fruit whirls around ripe apples, white peaches and hints of citrus rind. Great acid underpinning sets up the palate for food.

Red fruits, light cranberry and refined tannins create a sense of stylish elegance. Impeccable balance and a light touch with the oak keep the wine lively and fresh through a medium-long finish.

This is a very interesting wine. It has many different flavor threads that have not quite interwoven. To begin there is a surplus of acid, leaving a chalky sensation that has not yet smoothed out. The fruit flavors are also sharp and tart—red fruits from wild berries to pomegranate to sour cherry. The aromas suggest some light chocolate from the barrel aging, and…

This has a flavor of fresh cut Bartlett pear that is almost beyond belief; it’s like pear juice without the conversion to wine. It leads into a very floral, fruity and exceedingly soft finish, with a hint of honey.

Some tasters will celebrate the elegance and finesse of this lightweight Pinot; time will be the ultimate judge. At the moment it is a bit out of balance; there is light cherry fruit, plenty of alcohol, some grainy, earthy tannins and overall a lack of integration. Maybe it just needs more time in the bottle; the components are good enough—tart cranberry and…
