Gyles Webb, whose spectacular vineyards drench the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, was once better known for his great-value Sauvignon Blanc and for his reds. But his Chardonnay is as good as the rest of the range, full of tangy marmalade flavors and a well-judged use of oak, which supports rather than dominates the delicious citrus character of the wine.
