V&N Cellars 2011 Albariño (Rías Baixas)

  1. $18
Apart from its note of fresh apple and hint of juniper, the nose is fairly neutral. It feels clean, crisp and cleansing, with pear and nectarine flavors that finish light, with medium intensity and length. Drink right away for maximum freshness and expression.  — M.S.  (12/31/2012)

V&N Cellars NV Reserva Brut Sparkling (Cava)

  1. $19
Lime, apple and mineral aromas come with a note of eggy yeast. The mouthfeel is regular and a touch foamy, with semisweet flavors of kiwi, apple and gooseberry. Mild and feeling good on the finish, it’s basic but well worth a go.  — M.S.  (7/1/2012)

V&N Cellars 2009 Garnatxa Blanca Garnacha Blanca (Terra Alta)

  1. $18
This slightly evolved Garnacha Blanca is maderized in color and oxidized on the nose, and to a fairly high extent. In the mouth, it’s showing a good pulse as the acidity doesn’t falter. Flavors of nutty apple and vanilla lead to a finish with walnut notes and more vanilla. Time to drink up!  — M.S.  (6/1/2013)

V&N Cellars 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (Cariñena)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $18
Leathery, stalky berry aromas are a bit rustic, and so is the feel. But the flavors on this Cabernet from Cariñena are satisfying and forward, suggesting stewed plum, baked berry and sun-drenched warmth. This is almost cooked but it pulls back. At six years of age it is what it is; drink now.  — M.S.  (7/1/2013)

V&N Cellars 2009 Mencía (Bierzo)

  1. $18
A Barcelona-based brand with this Bierzo label that’s good, with generic red-fruit aromas and cheesy smelling oak. Feels light, snappy and feminine, with spicy, resiny flavors along with tart raspberry and tomato. Ends abruptly.  — M.S.  (10/1/2012)

V&N Cellars 2007 Reserva Selecció Vinyes Velles Red (Terra Alta)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $18
Beefy and roasted up front, without much lift to the bouquet. The palate is marked with high acidity but also some texture, while the flavors run toward salty tomato, herb, baked berry and a hint of brown sugar. It’s crisp and tangy on the finish.  — M.S.  (7/1/2012)
