Racy and rambunctious, with a potent yet pretty nose featuring tons of red licorice and cassis. This is old-vines Garnacha, and it has some tannins that could use a few years to settle in. Nonetheless the chocolate and coffee flavors are fine, and there’s a sweetness that grows on you. Drink beginning in late 2004.

Nice slate and mineral aromas meld with exotic spice and black-fruit scents; next up is a palate of lively cherry, raspberry and citrus zest. You get plenty of depth and spunk for a good price—wines with this much kick and verve usually don’t sell for this little.

Nicely balanced and a better example of the upside of Navarra than the wines that are based on or include Merlot. The nose shows some herbal character but more deep fruit notes. And in the mouth there’s ripe cherry, cassis and plum. Texturally, it’s very nice, and when you get down to the nuts and olts it’s a very good value.

Such a pretty pink is this little Garnacha/Cabernet mix; and it tastes and smells great, too. Fruity raspberry aromas blend into the flowery bouquet, while the palate is streamlined by watermelon notes that prime the peach flavors that dominate. A mild dose of pepper on the finish is nice.
