Vergari 2006 Van der Kamp Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Mountain)

Silky smooth, dry and classy, this Pinot shows great coastal personality in its tannins, crisp acidity and ripe flavors of cherries, cola, raspberries, pomegranates, orange zest and sweet rhubarb. That acidity is fresh and tart. Doesn’t seem likely to improve, so decant. Should be nice with roast salmon, lamb chops or a great grilled steak.  — S.H.  (6/1/2010)

Vergari 2007 Sangiacomo Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

A very good Pinot for drinking now. With a silky-smooth mouthfeel, it has rich flavors of raspberries, cherries, cola, anise, cinnamon and sweet smoky oak. Delicious and savory.  — S.H.  (7/1/2010)

Vergari 2006 Pinot Noir (Marin County)

Tight and crisp in acidity, with a tart, citrus fruit bite, like grapefruit. But the raspberry and cherry pie filling flavors are very rich, and the finish is dry. So will it mellow with age? Probably not. Drink now.  — S.H.  (6/1/2010)

Vergari 2007 Pinot Noir (Marin County)

  1. $32
Tart acidity marks this dry wine, interfering with the palate pleasure and causing some imbalance. Otherwise, it shows a tension of cool-climate raspberry and cherry ripeness with a touch of wintergreen mint. Give it more richness, and it’s a great wine.  — S.H.  (7/1/2010)
