Opens with ripe berry, mineral and plum aromas. The palate is firm, shows good structure and is anything but short with the acids. Thus it’s bright and crackles on the palate, with raspberry, plum, spice and chocolate flavors. Long on the finish. 70% Merlot with 20% Cab Sauvignon and 10% Tempranillo.

Brambly and a bit green, with aromas of plum, basil and forest floor. This is one of the more tannic wines you’ll encounter; the feel is like a jackhammer pounding away. But within that tannic vise there’s adequate raisin, plum and beet-like flavors.

Full and heavy, with a smack of berry, oak and bouillon on the nose. Big blackberry and espresso notes on the palate seem warm and raw, while the tannins force the finish toward the bitter side.

Not very pleasant as the nose offers sour, burnt aromas. Then comes a palate that’s weedy and tart. Some cherry and cola flavors are present, but it’s still fiery and awkward.
