Spicy, ripe fruit, with an edge to it. Well-defined wine, which shows briar, toast, berry and coffee flavors sprinkled throughout. Well-built, sturdy, a little hot, but balanced and long.

This is a great price for a delicious, complex wine. It’s quite dry, but so filled with rich, fruity lemon, fig and vanilla flavors. Refreshes with big, clean acidity.

From this county north of Napa, a well-ripened Cab with lots of excitingly rich flavor. Big in blackberry, cherry and mocha, and dry, with soft, gentle tannins, it’s a real crowd-pleaser.

Here’s a Merlot that lives up to the moniker of the soft Cab. It’s gentle in the mouth, with polished flavors of cherries and chocolate. Easy to drink, with some real complexity.

Wildhurst has been producing one of the best SBs at this price point in California, and this one continues the beat. It’s dry and acidic, with zesty citrus, gooseberry, fig and melon flavors that finish in a swirl of rich, crushed brown spices.

It’s amazing how consistently good Lake County Sauvignon Blancs can be at such a good price, and with their ’05, Wildhurst exemplifies these qualities. The wine is very ripe in citrus, fig, green melon, vanilla and peppery spice flavors, with wonderful acidity and a honeyed finish.

Somehow, Wildhurst manages to keep the price down on their Sauvignon Blanc, which is really refreshing and vigorous. Backed by crisp acidity, this unoaked wine has charming lemongrass, pineapple, fig and peppery spice flavors.

A very clean, tasty wine, with pronounced flavors of grass, citrus fruits, sweet figs and peppery spices. Has a ripely honeyed edge, but a crisp streak of acidity keeps it fresh and balanced.
