From Minick Family estate vineyards, this intense and thrilling Riesling has a Germanic 8.5% alcohol and 5.5% residual sugar balance, yet with acids so vivid and juicy that its sweetness is completely counterbalanced. Loaded with spicy pear and tart tangerine fruit flavors, it’s a penetrating, dense and highly refreshing wine that explores a style that is both…

This Yakima Valley bottling highlights fresh herbs and sharp, juicy pear and apple fruit flavors. The vivid fruit is racy and tightly defined, and seems to gather strength and focus as it sits in the mouth. A splendid effort that really sets the standard for Washington Pinot Gris.

The best of the winery’s reds, this outstanding value caries rich scents of boysenberry and blueberry pie. It’s plenty ripe but not unctuous, and remains below 14% alcohol, good for Syrah. There’s a nice spine of fresh acid, and lightly earthy tannins, tasting of black tea.

Tart, juicy and intense, this is a no-frills effort that showcases the pure Cab Franc fruit. It’s definitely put the focus on tart and racy berry flavors, but it’s made to keep the tannins in check. It’s really delicious juice.

This is lovely Syrah, stripped of flash and barrel, showing pure fruit that has zip and true character. The acids really prop up the fruit, and nothing is hiding the natural spiciness of the grapes. It sets up quickly in the mouth, then sits and lingers gracefully, gently fading into a very clean, fruit-driven finish.

A strong spice scent comes with a hint of vanilla bean. Fruit flavors of lime and fresh-cut pear are framed by an underlying minerality. As always with Willow Crest Pinot Gris, there is good penetration and length.

Willow Crest is a Yakima Valley grower, bottling a few cases of wine under their own label. Syrah is clearly a strength. This is a dark, spicy bottle showing classic varietal fruit and coffee scents. Mocha, cocoa and some pleasant herbal elements add interest, but the star is the fruit, which is dense and powerful.

It takes a moment or two for this tight, herbal wine to unwind in the glass. Once it unwraps a bit it’s a delight, with pleasing flavors of green olive, leaf and herb along with ripe, plummy fruit, coffee and chocolate. There’s lots of acid, balanced and smooth tannins, and a long, persistent finish.
