Quite a luscious vintage-style Port wine. It’s very sweet, with opulent flavors of all sorts of decadent dessert treats, such as pecan pie, chocolate brownies, caramel candy and Kahlua truffles. Yet the firm acids hold it all together. The spicy flavors last forever.

A blend of five traditional Port varieties, this is a sweet (10% residual sugar), very rich wine of substance and harmony. Unctuous and sweet, a smooth-drinking wine with the aroma and flavors of apricots, honey, oranges, smoke and vanilla. Delicious and assertive, with the bright acidity to boost the flavors and make the finish clean and sharp. Perfect with ripe fruit or an apricot tart.

Opens with complex, inviting aromas of blackberry jam, sweet oak, smoke, vanilla and mint. You can put this next to Syrahs costing four times as much and smell them both, and this Robert Mondavi wine will win out. It’s all about white pepper, blackberries and oak. Tastes fine and yummy, with rich berry flavors and soft, creamy tannins. Could use a bit more depth, but at this price, you can’t have everything.

The best of the new lineup, this old-vine Zin offers a big but not particularly lush mouthful of fruit, along with earthy notes and a hint of licorice on the finish.

Plenty of richness here, with cherry and blackberry flavors finished with an edge of sweet herbs and roasted coffee. Totally dry, and the tannins are ripe and fine. Great value.
