Stillwater Creek grapes anchor this outstanding Syrah. Rich cherry flavors, generously awash in cut tobacco and vanilla, gain extra complexity, with hints of smoke and a streak of dusty earth. It’s clean, with good grip, and a long, smooth finish.

This young Bordeaux blend is almost impenetrable; tight, compact, dark and chewy. It sports all the tar, smoke, earth and soy flavors you could ever wish for, in a massive, grainy, thick style. To its credit, it’s not monolithic and certainly not unbalanced; it just needs more time to soften up a bit.

Juicy and refreshing, with a tangy fruit core of citrus, grapefruit and pineapple flavors. It’s lively and acidic without being at all sour, and a pleasing, lightly toasty roundness fills out the finish.

Four fifths of this is stainless-steel fermented Artz vineyard (Red Mountain) fruit; the rest is from Stillwater Creek, and fermented in new French oak. It’s spicy and textural, with tangy grapefruit, melon and white peach, and just a nice hint of toast in the finish.

Just the second Cabernet Franc from this winery, this is a pure, 100% varietal expression, dappled with cinnamon spice, hints of coffee, softly grainy tannins, and lovely blueberry/cassis fruit. Both elegant and powerful, it marks an important step forward for the winery. The velvety mouthfeel, polished tannins and judicious barrel notes add up to a thoroughly…
