Zero One Vintners 2007 Golden Delicious Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $16
This is generous and juicy, with lush and very ripe flavors of apples and stone fruits, really loaded with fruit flavors and plenty of tangy acid. The midpalate hangs sensuously, loaded with sweet orange and Meyer lemon; this is the sort of rich, ripe, fruit-powered yet still racy Riesling that Washington makes better than anywhere in the world.  — P.G.  (6/1/2009)

Zero One Vintners 2008 Golden Delicious Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $16
Sourced from Gamache vineyard grapes, this is a fine follow-up to Zero One’s debut vintage. It’s packed with fruit flavors, running the gamut from Meyer lemon to candied papaya. The natural acidity keeps it all in balance and perfectly counterpoints the residual sugar, pegged at 2.1%.  — P.G.  (10/1/2010)

Zero One Vintners 2006 Wild Sky Cabernet Sauvignon (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

  1. $30
Sensuous aromas wrap black fruits, dusty spices, pepper, mocha and lead pencil; flavors follow. This is a chewy, dense and meaty wine, which places the substantial fruit in the driver’s seat. Tannins are beautifully proportioned and just this side of silky, and as the wine unwinds it shows complex details of smoke, tar and toasted grains.  — P.G.  (6/1/2009)

Zero One Vintners 2007 Wild Sky Cabernet Sauvignon (Walla Walla Valley (OR))

  1. $30
This wine has the magic mix of vanilla, tobacco and cherry that many consumers (and critics) love. It’s a seductive Cabernet from an excellent Walla Walla vineyard, with a little bit of Yakima Valley Merlot blended in. With more time it may flesh out and show better depth to the fruit, but it’s quite enjoyable as is.  — P.G.  (10/1/2010)

Zero One Vintners 2009 Golden Delicious Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $16
The third vintage of this Riesling is of a piece with the first two, which is to say loaded with juicy stone fruit flavors, some hints of papaya and tropical, citrus-infused acids, and a delicious freshness. Off-dry, with residual sugar at 1.5%, this is a versatile companion for a wide range of spicy noodle dishes.  — P.G.  (7/1/2011)

Zero One Vintners 2009 Wild Sky Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $30
This is the last Wild Sky to be crafted by now-departed winemaker Gordy Hill. It’s a full-on Bordeaux blend, 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the other four grapes filling in the rest. Substantial and mouth-filling, it displays a mix of black fruits, black olive, and Italian herbs. The mouthfeel is satisfying and the finish edged with dark chocolate.  — P.G.  (7/1/2013)

Zero One Vintners 2011 Golden Delicious Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $13
In 2011, the fifth vintage of this Riesling, the alcohol is down a bit, as is the price. It remains quintessentially fruity, done in a tangy/tart sweet and sour style. Juicy apple, kiwi, peach and pear flavors fill the mouth in a most satisfying style, perfect for front porch sipping.  — P.G.  (7/1/2013)

Zero One Vintners 2011 Copper Lily Sauvignon Blanc (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $13
This is a broadly fruity, wide open style with fresh melon, pink grapefruit and orange marmalade flavors criss-crossing the palate. It’s ready to enjoy right now, low in alcohol, with a touch of marshmallow sweetness to cut the acid.  — P.G.  (7/1/2013)
