A really good and clean white wine with all the tropicality and zest that this Argentine variety can give. The nose is crystalline and pure, with white flower scents of jasmine and citrus blossom, while the palate is round, melony and full of lychee and papaya. Smooth on the finish. Drink soon.  — M.S.  (5/1/2011)

Tamarí 2009 Reserve Torrontés (La Rioja)

  1. $15
Clean, light, tropical aromas draw you in, and there’s also some tangerine and melon on the nose. The palate is fresh and pure, with honeydew, kiwi and lychee flavors. There’s no excess here, and thus the dry, melony finish is just right. A correct and appealing Torrontés.  — M.S.  (5/1/2010)

Recuerdo 2011 Torrontés (La Rioja)

  1. $15
Vanilla cookies, peach and nectarine aromas work the opening. In the mouth, there’s a nice and even flow of acidity and pulpy tropical fruits. Flavors of tangerine, melon and lychee are authentic and well balanced, while the finish is musky, fresh and confirms the wine’s high quality.  — M.S.  (5/1/2012)

La Puerta 2005 Malbec (La Rioja)

Jammy and oaky, with raisin, graham cracker and blackberry thrown in for good measure. The palate teeters on syrupy but holds the line to show sweet, ripe berry and plum flavors. Mild tannins and some coffee on the healthy finish. Imported by Ecosur Group, LLC.  — M.S.  (4/1/2006)

La Puerta 2005 Torrontés (La Rioja)

Honey, flowers and a bit of mineral on the solid nose. This is full and ripe, with pretty melon, anise and other Southeast Asian flavors. A bit more full and extracted than most, but it’s neither flabby nor heavy. Imported by Ecosur Group, LLC.  — M.S.  (4/1/2006)
