Veranda 2007 Oda Chardonnay (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $25
Toasty and warmed up on the bouquet by butterscotch and peach melba, but overall it keeps its cool-climate personality. The palate is juicy, but that only helps propel the apple, green banana and nut-driven flavors in the wine. Slightly creamy on the finish.  — M.S.  (9/1/2009)

Gracia de Chile 2006 Sereno Reserva Lo Mejor Santa Ana Estate Pinot Noir (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $20
Lo Mejor is the most elevated, worldly Pinot in the Corpora group’s portfolio (Veranda, Porta and Agustinos are others). It is ripe and smoky, with alluring berry aromas and smooth black cherry and raspberry flavors. It’s warm and a bit fiery on the finish, but with food that won’t be a big factor. A good example of what Bío Bío can do with Pinot Noir.  — M.S.  (9/1/2008)

  1. $13
Light and properly toasted on the nose, with pineapple, vanilla and yeasty bread notes. Quite fresh and bright across the tongue, with melon, apple and pear flavors that are sweet and ripe but not sugary. Honest and well done for the price.  — M.S.  (9/1/2011)

Cono Sur 2009 Visión Block: Quiltramán Riesling (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $15
For Chilean Riesling, this steps it up a notch. The nose hits with petrol and white fruits, while the palate is lightly spritzy and edgy, with sweet, tropical flavors that spread out over the palate. Pithy on the finish, but a good taste of South American Riesling.  — M.S.  (9/1/2011)

Veranda 2008 Chardonnay (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $18
Good Chilean Chard with sweet, honeyed aromas that are pleasantly dusty and include apple and peach. The smooth palate has apple as a core flavor, while nectarine and barrel notes are present as well. Long and full on the finish; not world class but elevated if measured by local standards.  — M.S.  (12/31/2009)

Gracia de Chile 2007 Reserva Lo Mejor Sereno Pinot Noir (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $15
Full and stocky on the nose, with a mild pine and juniper accent. The palate features good feel and thickness, while the raspberry and plum flavors are complete and juicy. Dry and spicy on the finish, and correct within the global pool of Pinot Noir.  — M.S.  (12/31/2009)

  1. $13
Opens with white fruit, citrus, mineral and mild vanilla aromas. Feels wet, fresh and vital, with a minerally cut and flavors of pear, lime and honey. Feels correct on the finish. More generic in style than unique, but overall it’s a prime value Chardonnay.  — M.S.  (2/1/2012)

Emiliana 2010 Eco Balance Sauvignon Blanc (Bío Bío Valley)

  1. $9
A glassy, crisp style of SB from Bío Bío in Chile’s south. The nose is pungent and slick, while the palate has a smooth, tangy set of green fruit flavors like lime and apple. Reserved on the finish, with chiseled acids and fresh simplicity.  — M.S.  (6/1/2011)
