Opaque in color, with a driving bouquet loaded with graphite, pastry and incredibly ripe black-fruit aromas. Feels rich, but with fine acidity creating superb balance. Tastes like a cascade of blackberry, cassis and chocolate, and then comes a finish of coconut, vanilla and texture. Drink now through 2014; contains 9% Cabernet Sauvignon.

This high-priced Syrah is stately. The nose is ripe, minty and loaded with cassis and blackberry fruit. The palate displays extraction handled well, while accents of mint, spice, nutmeg and licorice work great with core black fruit flavors. Juicy, deep and focused. Contains 12% Cabernet Sauvignon; 150 cases made.

Thick, minty and extracted, with charcoal darkness. A forward wine that steps on the gas pedal with cola, black cherry and licorice flavors. More dark flavors and licorice notes settle on the finish, which has good feel but not much variety. In fact, that’s the only complaint with this Syrah: it lacks complexity.
