Château Los Boldos 1998 Grand Cru Cabernet Sauvignon (Requinoa)

  1. $45
Pleasant aromas of earth and peanuts are tight on fruit, but the fruit comes through on the palate where you get potent plums and currants. The wine is very smooth, as all of its components are in balance, then finishes long.  — C.S.  (12/1/2002)

Château Los Boldos 2000 Vieilles Vignes Cabernet Sauvignon (Requinoa)

  1. $20
Solid and full-bodied, with thoroughness to the nose. Flavors of blackberry, cassis, pepper and savory spice are totally convincing, while the finish is tight and right if not exactly effusive. This Cab is made from a vineyard that houses vines planted 150 years ago, so it has some serious terroir. Imported by Five Star Imports.  — M.S.  (5/1/2006)

Cola, blackberry and coconut aromas get this Cachapoal Malbec going in an attractive fashion. Feels good, weighty and properly tannic, with bold berry, chocolate, spice and depth to the palate. Toasty, dark, spicy and nice on the finish, but also oaky tasting.  — M.S.  (6/1/2012)

Château Los Boldos 1997 Grand Cru Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (Requinoa)

  1. $40
The Massenez family from Alsace is to thank for this Bordeaux blend, which offers fleshy, dusty black-plum and red-berry fruit flavors, and a medium-long finish rife with oak and red berry. The nice nougaty-marscapone aromas are unfortunately overtaken by oak.  — D.T.  (7/1/2002)

Château Los Boldos 1999 Vielles Vignes Cabernet Sauvignon (Requinoa)

  1. $20
Earthy and blackberry aromas are complemented by flavors of chocolate, tobacco and leather. A nice balance of tannins and acidity makes for a pleasant-drinking Cab.  — C.S.  (12/1/2002)

Château Los Boldos 2001 Vielles Vignes Chardonnay (Requinoa)

  1. $16
The old-vine name is French, as are the estate owners, and the wine itself is pretty good despite being a bit thick, chewy and aimless. The nose is full but nondescript, while apple and oak-driven flavors define the palate. The finish is textured and woody. Mouthfeel is its primary attribute while interesting or unusual tastes prove elusive.  — M.S.  (7/1/2003)

Château Los Boldos 2003 Grand Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Requinoa)

  1. $11
Fairly saucy and earthy, with root beer and leather establishing a presence on the nose. Plump berry and plum flavors carry the palate, followed by toast, chocolate and espresso on the finish. A touch grabby and tannic but overall it’s more right than wrong. Imported by Five Star Imports.  — M.S.  (5/1/2006)

Château Los Boldos 2004 Altitude Red (Requinoa)

  1. $11
This three-piece band plays with Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah, and the tune is a fruit fantasia with tons of ripe cherry and blackberry, but no base or treble monitor. It’s warm, big and juicy. Not boring, but monotone. Imported by Five Star Imports.  — M.S.  (3/1/2006)
