Château Rahoul 2011 Barrel Sample White (Graves)

  • Online Exclusive
91-93. Barrel sample. Despite some reductive character on the nose, the fruit on the palate shows good weight and richness. It should become a rich, citrus-flavored wine.  — R.V.  (4/5/2012)

Château de Chantegrive 2007 Cuvée Caroline White (Graves)

  1. $23
The top white wine from Chantegrive, this is a smoothly wood-aged wine. However it doesn’t lose sight of deliciously fresh, herbaceous fruits which come through crisply. That makes the resulting balance immediately appealing, acidity and spice coming together well. Worth aging for 2–3 years.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)

Château Ferrande 2011 Barrel Sample White (Graves)

  • Online Exclusive
91-93. Barrel sample. With a dominant austere minerality, this wine has weight but not the delicious fruitiness of the vintage. The finish is marked by a steely texture.  — R.V.  (4/5/2012)

Château Haut Selve 2006 Réserve Red (Graves)

  • Online Exclusive
Big, rich, dusty tannins and black plum fruits are built on a firm layer of wood. There is a fresh mint character as well, giving the wine a polished and spicy feel. With the wood and the acidity, this needs aging: 3–4 years and more.  — R.V.  (6/1/2010)

Château Ferrande 2008 White (Graves)

  1. $25
In its youth, this is intensely grassy, the grapefruit and green pepper flavors adding to the general crispness of the wine. It will be an attractive wine, full of pep, with a fine edge of minerality, spice and vivid white fruits.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)

Château de Chantegrive 2007 White (Graves)

  1. $18
A leading estate in the southern Graves region, Chantegrive has produced a relatively rich 2007 white, its creamy texture given an edge by apple skin tannins, but still full, open, already generous to drink. There is a great layer of fresh pear juice, which blends well with lime acidity for a final burst of crispness.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)
