Deliciously fresh, this is almost delicate, certainly elegant. There is great balance here, the wood just lightly toasty over the smooth, creamy white fruit flavors. For a wine from a lesser Burgundy appellation, this is impressive.

This demonstrates a good balance between minerality and ripe pineapple and apricot fruits. With a twist of lemon and an herb accent, it has both crispness and richness.

There is plenty of wood here, quite a dominant feature. The fruit comes behind, showing bright ripe white fruits and a hint of apricot. The wood spice, though, has the last word.

Like a baby Meursault, this is a a rich, plump wine that’s full of yellow fruit. The acidity is soft, yet lively enough to give the palate an attractive, citrus-like edge. The finish brings out cinnamon, vanilla and warm fruit flavors.

With only 100 acres of Chardonnay, Auxey-Duresses, which is located behind Meursault, is a small player in white Burgundy production. Yet the village creates distinctive wines that are rich and taut. This 2010 is structured and firm, and it has a fruity, crisp apple-skin flavor. It could age well for 1–2 years.

Wood-influenced aromas set the scene, with the wine’s toast character partnered with ripe red fruits and taut acidity. It needs at least three years to balance out.

Fresh and fruity, this wine has lively strawberry flavors and acidity shining through the red currant fruits. The tannins are a light counterpoint to the dominating fresh fruit.
