Domaine d'Ardhuy 2003 Clos des Langres Pinot Noir (Côte de Nuits-Villages)
-
$32
Clos des Langres, showpiece estate of the Domaine d’Ardhuy, is situated right at the end of the Côte de Nuits, just before it transitions into the Côte de Beaune. This 2003, weighty for a wine from this estate, is still fresh, with crisp acidity topping the attractive, balanced red fruits.

Labouré-Roi 1998 Domaine Sirugue Clos La Belle Marguerite Red (Côte de Nuits-Villages)
-
$19
What a nose. La Belle Marguerite's the color of ruby Port, so we shouldn't have been surprised at the luscious black currant, plum, black pepper and membrillo-paste aromas it showed. Cracked black pepper and curry notes spice up the palate's cherry, fresh red pepper and mineral flavors. Racy and medium-bodied, it finishes with more spice, plus some dried cherry notes.

Domaine Jayer-Gilles 2006 Pinot Noir (Côte de Nuits-Villages)
-
$79
A rounded, mouthfilling wine. At the beginning, it seems very soft, but then it is possible to discern rich tannins through the concentrated red fruits and black plums. The acidity is there all the time, a fine counterpoint to the seductive, rich fruits and dry tannins.

Domaine Jayer-Gilles 2007 Pinot Noir (Côte de Nuits-Villages)
-
$68
A darkly tannic wine, showing a dry side of Pinot Noir but still offering some good berry fruits and raspberry sweetness. The acidity needs to soften, though.
