Domaine Faiveley 2006 Clos des Myglands Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Mercurey)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $46
This single-vineyard monopoly produces impressive wine, some of the best in the Mercurey region. This 2006 is no exception, a finely structured wine that shows dry tannins, only the faintest hint of wood, and plenty of rich ruby fruit flavors: red plums and berries. Worth aging for 5–10 years. Imported by Wilson Daniels Ltd. Cellar Selection.  — R.V.  (10/1/2009)

Faiveley 2005 La Framboisière Pinot Noir (Mercurey)

  1. $33
The wine is named after a raspberry plantation, and that’s what it tastes like. Small wild fruit, with their extra taste of ripe flesh, are in the glass along with delicious acidity. The tannins and the wood are all at the service of the fruit.  — R.V.  (3/1/2008)

Faiveley 1996 Blanc Clos Rochette White (Mercurey)

  1. $29
Shows lots of toast on the nose; yeasty and lemony, almost like a blanc de blancs Champagne. Tastes rich and bold. A powerful statement of Chardonnay in its earthiest, most mineral guise. Complex and strong.  — S.H.  (12/31/1999)

Château de Chamirey 2008 Les Ruelles Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Mercurey)

  1. $57
Owned by the Devillard family, Château de Chamirey produces firmly textured wines. This Mercurey is on the dry side, while not losing sight of fresh red-berry fruits and bright acidity.  — R.V.  (12/31/2010)

Château de Chamirey 2008 La Mission Premier Cru Chardonnay (Mercurey)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $57
A broad, spicy wine, ripe with plenty of sweet mango and peach fruits to go with the green fruit acidity. It is already delicious but will develop further over the next 2–3 years.  — R.V.  (11/1/2010)

Château de Chamirey 2007 Clos du Roi Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Mercurey)

  • Online Exclusive
This is solid, borderline burly, a big wine that boasts some good dense tannins over the delicious red fruits. If it has weight, it also has fresh berry, sweet acidity and a touch of currant juice. Cleanly made, but there is just a hint of funky rusticity to give good complexity.  — R.V.  (10/1/2009)

Faiveley 2005 Domaine de la Croix Jacquelet Pinot Noir (Mercurey)

  1. $23
This has plenty of very ripe red fruits, but at the same time the tannins push through, firm and dry, and, at this young stage, tough. It promises some good aging, with the wood element coming into balance.  — R.V.  (3/1/2008)
