Domaine Henri Gouges 2008 Les St.-Georges Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Nuits-St.-Georges)
Gorgeous, rich Pinot flavors float over soft, ripe tannins. Strawberry-fruit flavors offer freshness and bright acidity. The dense texture is very evident, layered with wonderfully perfumed flavors from wood and fruit.

A beautifully ripe wine, with the new wood just a hint in the background. The wine has rich red plums and black cherries, laced with the most intense acidity. It is a dense, firmly concentrated wine with a long ahead.

Domaine Henri Gouges 2007 Les St.-Georges Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Nuits-St.-Georges)
A wine that is ripe and relatively soft. It does offer some dense tannins, but these are surrounded by rich black plum and ripe berry fruits. The structure comes from wood aging and fruit as much as from tannins. The final flavors are delicious, smoky and toasty.

Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier 2005 Clos de la Maréchale Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Nuits-St.-Georges)

A complete wine, with richness, exotic spices and a great depth of flavor. The tannins are dark, intense, flavored with red plums, the layers of tannin, wood and fruit peeling away to a core of great concentration. Impressive.

Domaine de l'Arlot 2005 Clos de l’Arlot Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Nuits-St.-Georges)
Made from the old vines of Clos de l’Arlot (average age 65 years), this is a wonderfully smoky, aromatic wine, with delicious raspberry fruits over dense wood and smoked bacon flavors. The tannins show power, but leave plenty of room for the exuberant fruit.

Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier 2006 Clos de la Maréchale Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Nuits-St.-Georges)

Beautiful fresh raspberry flavors appear with tannins showing a density and dryness, but the essential is the perfume and the freshness. While it is not a big wine, it does have a solid core of dense fruit, but the end is light, with just a hint of tannin.
