Domaine Rolet Père et Fils 2005 Vin Jaune Savagnin (Arbois)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $60

Vin Jaune, one of the glories of Jura, is in good hands here. This wine is still developing, its oxidative, yeast and acidity still showing a fresher fruit character. Even now, still young, it is a wonderful, totally memorable wine.

Rijckaert 2010 En Paradis Vieilles Vignes Chardonnay (Arbois)

  • Online Exclusive

En Paradis—“in paradise”—refers to a vineyard owned by Régine and Jean Rijckaert. The wine is deliciously and very lightly oxidized, showing a great line of tangy, juicy green and white fruits which are overlaid by pineapple acidity. It has fine concentration and a so-refreshing lemon-zest aftertaste.

Domaine Rolet Père et Fils 2007 Tradition White (Arbois)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $22

In the oxidative style that is so special to the Jura, this blend of Chardonnay and Savagnin is distinctive. With almond, apricot and yeast flavors, it is dry, a food wine although also, like a fino Sherry, good as an apéritif.

With a crisp texture and ripe apple and pear fruits, this is deliciously fruity and lively, with a lemon zest texture. Some toastiness gives the wine extra interest. It’s worth aging until 2015.

This is a beautiful, ripe wine, flavored with quince, pear and apricots. It is above all the zesty texture that gives this wine its character and attraction. Fruity, structured and likely to age well, the wine should be drunk from 2015.

A full-bodied, slightly oxidative wine that wears its character well. There is a toastiness here along with some apple and apricot fruits, giving a rich feel to the wine. It’s ready to drink but can also continue to age until 2017–2018.
