Neudorf 2003 Home Vineyard Pinot Noir (Moutere)
Based on old (20–25-year-old) plantings of Pommard clone, this fabulous wine blends savory, spicy scents with floral elements on the nose, then delves deep into black cherries in the mouth. Rich and velvety on the palate, with powerful fruit and the structure to age. One of the best New World Pinots I’ve ever tasted.

Kahurangi 2003 Late Harvest Riesling (Moutere)

This lush, dessert-style Riesling is impeccably balanced. It’s sweet but not overly so, with hints of dried apricot and honeyed peach on the nose and bergamot and orange marmalade flavors lingering on the finish. Imported by Cordon Selections.

Broad, mouthfilling and rich, filled with aromas and flavors of melon and ripe red apples. Picks up hints of dried spice on the finish, along with a modestly tannic quality. Imported by Epic Wines.

Kahurangi 2004 Mt. Arthur Chardonnay (Moutere)

This top-of-the-line Chard gets the full Monty—barrel fermentation, lees-stirring, malolactic fermentation—resulting in a toasty, buttery wine that’s oaky from start to finish. Thankfully, there’s also decent pear and apple fruit underneath and a lingering finish. Imported by Cordon Selections.

Neudorf 2003 Riesling (Moutere)
At only 10.5% alcohol and approximately 40g/L residual sugar, this is a spätlese-style Riesling from the clay soils of Moutere. Smells of sweet apples and baking spices with a hint of petrol character that adds complexity and a texture reminiscent of fine chalk dust. Enjoyable now, and should hold up to 5 years, possibly longer. Imported by Epic Wines.

This wine is distinctive, but not easy to cozy up to, with its dry, steely, lime and green apple aromas and flavors. On the finish, chalky, minerally notes seem almost tannic. A bit weird, but will have its fans. Imported by Cordon Selections.
