Tough, dry and gritty, with significant tannins framing herb-infused blackberry, currant and pepper flavors. A good, rustic wine with barbecue and rich, oily Italian food.

Rich and fruity, with oak-inspired blackberry, cherry, mocha, currant and spice flavors that finish with a toasty sweetness. This gentle Cab has lots of charm, at a decent price.

Rich in pineapple, peach, lemon and lime flavors, with refreshing acidity, this is a fine Sauvignon Blanc. It shows the balance and harmony that make Lake County such a great home to this finicky variety.

Shows the deep, rich flavors of Petite Sirah in a lovely way, with ripe blackberry, cherry, red currant, Dr. Pepper and bacon flavors, liberally spiced and smoky. Yet there’s a light, silky texture that’s like Pinot Noir. It makes for a delightful combination.

A good, dry, full-bodied Petite Sirah to enjoy with hearty fare, such as pizza or short ribs of beef. It shows a classically tannic structure, with flavors of dark berries, licorice, tobacco and spices, although it does not possess the ability to age.

A good, complex wine, but the oak currently sticks out, swamping the fruit with caramel. Makes you wonder why the winemaker thought all that wood was needed, for the underlying blackberry and black cherry fruit flavors are wonderful. Sometimes, less is more.

Shows rich, extracted flavors of blackberry, blueberry and cherry jam, milk chocolate, black currants, licorice and smoky cedar wood. The fruit is nice and ripe, but the wine is a little too soft and sweet. Drink now.
