This is the most intensely flavored and concentrated Viognier I’ve ever tasted from the U.S. It opens up fragrant and sensual, a soft, seductive blend of sweet fruits, blossoms, pollen and perfume. It explodes in the glass into a rich, vivid wine highlighted with polished fruit, concentrated aromas and lipsmacking acids. Ethereal. —P.G.

A juicy, jammy, alcoholic style, tannic and young. This is gutsy, high-toned wine, with fat, extracted fruit. Very dry tannins, good balance. This wine needs time; it’s a very different style from the other Claudia Springs Zins. But it shows the same attention to detail, intense fruit, and stylish, sensitive winemaking.

Beautiful Pet, among the best in California. Stuffed with bigtime berry, plum, cocoa, lavender and coffee flavors, with sturdy tannins, and very dry, it’s a wine that will age, although it’s approachable now with rich meats and cheeses.

Only 150 cases were produced of this wine. It's a lovely sipper, rich and sweet in cassis, coffee and chocolate flavors that are wrapped in smooth, velvety tannins. The fruity sweetness really kicks in mid-palate and lasts through a decadant finish.

From a cool, inland section of Mendocino County, this Viognier opens with gorgeous aromatics—heavenly honeysuckle and grapefruit—and offers up crisp, dry, borderline bracing acidity that pulls back just at the right moment. Nicely textured, the finish lingers.

Achieves a balance and complexity that’s hard to find in many Zins. Great fruit and spice, extracted and chewy, and the tannins are rich and mellow. Concentrated and intense. Great harmony and style.

From an inland Mendocino County district well regarded for ripe Zin comes this deeply flavored version. It’s stuffed with wild berry and spice notes and drinks sweetly ripe, yet it’s balanced and harmonious despite hefty alcohol. The finish is intricately dry and fruity. —S.H.
