Talisman 2008 Red Dog Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Mountain)

  1. $48
This is made in Talisman’s ripe, forward style; it’s an easy Pinot, rich in raspberry and cherry pie flavors. It has a nice burst of citrusy acidity. Drink it now before the fruit fades away.  — S.H.  (6/1/2012)

Korbin Kameron 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma Mountain)

  1. $40
Tastes fruitier and sweeter than past vintages from this winery, with sugar candy flavors of raspberries and cherries, dusted with vanilla. Rich, but lacks dryness and nuance.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)

Peters Family 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma Mountain)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $55
This is tartly sweet and jammy, like a cherry and roasted almond candy bar with a chocolate coating. Tasty, but a little one dimensional.  — S.H.  (10/1/2012)

Landmark 1999 Grand Detour Van Der Kamp Pinot Noir (Sonoma Mountain)

  1. $45
This defines plump, fat Pinot. There are meaty chocolate and prune aromas in front of spice cake, black plum and vanilla flavors. The finish offers some mocha, and despite its weight there’s plenty of acidity to keep things driving forward. It seems a bit hot despite the modest (by California standards) 13.9% alcohol.  — W.E.  (10/1/2002)

Tandem 2004 van der Kamp Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Mountain)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $48
Soft, oaky and gentle, this shows cherry, raspberry and cola flavors that are on the jammy side. Almost overripe, it’s a dry, stylish wine.  — S.H.  (3/1/2008)

Talisman 2004 Red Dog Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Mountain)

  1. $46
This is the softest and sweetest of Talisman’s three other ’04 single-vineyard wines. The cherry cola, licorice, root beer and cinnamon spice flavors are indeed delicious, but the wine needs greater structural integrity, and is a little obvious in its appeal. Drink now.  — S.H.  (12/15/2007)

Martin Ray 2004 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma Mountain)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $60
A shade too ripe, with a raisiny edge to the blackberries, cherries and chocolate. This 100% varietal Cab also feels soft and hot. But the tannins are wonderfully rich and fine.  — S.H.  (8/1/2008)

Work 2004 Reserve Merlot (Sonoma Mountain)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $25
Tasty, with pie-filling cherries, blackberries and currants accented with smoky oak, but a little on the soft side. Fully developed, so drink now.  — S.H.  (2/1/2009)
