This bears clean and crisp pear flavors, along with notes of jicama, green apple and lemon rind. It offers good detail in an elegant, unassuming style.

Not sure a Syrah/Baco Noir/Dolcetto/Merlot blend has ever been done, but here it is. Sharp with spicy rhubarb fruit and a leathery undertaste, this rustic, earthy wine is plenty flavorful and wild. Suggestion: chill it, serve it in tumblers, and appreciate its wildness with a smoky rack of grilled ribs.

Displays a tight nose with barnyardy, almost espresso coffee notes. Dark cherry, licorice and earthy flavors mark this engaging wine. Full mouthfeel with a long tannic finish, this is an interesting wine that needs a year or two to fully develop.

The winery feels that this is their best Pinot Noir, and prices it accordingly. Concentrated and balanced, it shows some grassy flavors along with the sweet fruit. Very tannic. Just one barrel—20 cases—was made.

This is a reserve style wine that is made in non-reserve years. A step up from their “Umpqua” bottling, with more texture, firm fruit and it moves past light cherry flavors into some tart berry.

This young Pinot shows scents of beetroot and sassafras and forward fruit (from 50% whole-berry fermentation). Ripe cherry flavors and a bit of earth tell the story. In terms of balance, this is an excellent wine for the price. Best Buy. —P.G.

Lots of fresh, ripe fruit, mostly cherry flavors, along with a bit of beet and stem and earth. It’s a spicy, lively, young wine with tart tannins, but nothing off. —P.G.

Cherry fruit, with some hints of earth. The grapes are grown in the coolest part of the valley. Tannins are tight but well managed, and it is varietally correct and well made for Pinot at this price. —P.G.
