Feiler-Artinger 2004 Muskat Ottonel Ruster Ausbruch (Neusiedlersee-Hügelland)

  1. $48
This spicy version of the Muscat family is only found in Austria in the area around Lake Neusiedl. This wine shows great varietal character, with nutmeg flavors dominating; relatively dry to taste. The sweetness is there, but what is so delicious about this wine is its balance.  — R.V.  (5/1/2007)

José Maria da Fonseca NV Moscatel Roxo 20 years (Moscatel de Setúbal)

Called Moscatel Roxo because of the slight red tinge to the old gold color of the wine, this is a stunning, mature wine, whose youngest component is 20 years old. It is deep, with a tannic element, and a dry, acidic streak over the intense sweetness. This is a beautiful wine, one of the world’s classics. Imported by Commonwealth Wine & Spirits Inc.  — R.V.  (11/15/2005)

EOS 2001 Tears of Dew - Late Harvest Moscato (Paso Robles)

  1. $20
Seductively delicious, an unctuously thick wine that opens with decadent aromas of apricot jam, sweet fig, tangerine, vanilla and meringue. Feels oily-rich on the palate, with sweet flavors and crisp acids and a clean, honeyed finish.  — S.H.  (12/1/2003)

Chouinard 2001 Joan's Vineyard Orange Muscat Ice Wine (Paso Robles)

  1. $16
A rich, wickedly sweet dessert wine. From the golden amber color to the sticky texture, this is like honey. But it’s delicate and refined, and the orange essence, apricot, vanilla and white chocolate flavors are addictive.  — S.H.  (12/1/2003)

  1. $20
It’s time to admit this wine into the elite of California dessert sippers. It’s always dependably rewarding in apricot, wild honey and vanilla flavors, unctuously sweet, and well-balanced in acids. This year’s offering is true to form.  — S.H.  (11/1/2005)

A precious golden color and rich, flavorful consistency make this Moscato passito a real crowd pleaser. The complex nose is accented by a delicate but unyielding rush of fresh apricot, peach cobbler, toasted almonds and honeysuckle.  — M.L.  (2/1/2006)
