Adrian Fog 2007 Oppenlander Vineyard Pinot Noir (Mendocino County)
Price
$75
This big, powerful Pinot Noir needs some time to resolve its contradictions. It’s totally dry, with silky tannins and fine coastal acidity, but there’s a heavy density to the cherry, orange zest, spice and sandalwood flavors. A classic example of an ageworthy Pinot Noir, it should come into its own by 2013.

Adrian Fog 2007 Savoy Vineyard Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley)

Price
$75
High acidity gives this wine a serious bite of tartness. It’s unbalanced. The cherry and cola flavors also veer into overripe raisins, giving the wine a grapeskin bitterness.

Adrian Fog 2007 Numbers Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)
Online Exclusive
Price
$75
Too acidic for comfort, with a harsh bite that’s almost vinegary. Too bad, because the underlying cherry and cola flavors are just fine.
