Alain Gras 1998 Pinot Noir (St.-Romain)

  1. $22
The proverbial Burgundian barnyard is on display here. Horsehide and hay are detectable, but are by no means bad or overbearing. The palate is deep and very solid. It’s more country-style than refined, which makes it well suited to casual drinking. Will benefit from a couple of years of bottle age.  — M.S.  (11/1/2000)
