Albert Bichot

While the Bichot family has called Burgundy its home since 1350, it wasn’t until 1831 that the name was associated with wine. Bernard Bichot established a wine merchant house that year just south of Beaune hence creating the early beginnings of Albert Bichot Winery. At the end of the 19th century, Bernard’s grandson Albert Bichot brought new enthusiasm to the business and relocated its headquarters to the heart of Beaune. Today, Albert Bichot is on its 6th generation of family management with Alberic Bichot as acting CEO. Albert Bichot vineyards are located within their four estates which are situated in some of the most sought-after areas of Burgundy including Chablis, Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune and Cote Chalonnaise according to our Albert Bichot reviews. In addition to utilizing grapes from their own vineyard sites, Albert Bichot carefully sources grapes in order to vinify and age its négociant Albert Bichot wines to their high quality standards. Albert Bichot 2007 Domaine Long-Depaquit Moutonne Grand Cru Chardonnay (Chablis)

  • Cellar Selection
The flagship wine from Bichot’s Long-Depaquit estate is, as usual, impressive. It has richness, balance, full white fruits with just a hint of steeliness. Powered by a citrus acidity, it looks likely to age well over several years.  — R.V.  (7/1/2010)

Albert Bichot 2005 Domaine du Clos Frantin Aux Malconsorts Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Vosne-Romanée)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $115
A superb wine, the tannins carrying along the dense structure with ease and grace. The purity of the ripe berry fruit is very marked, with acidity giving freshness to the sweet wine. The whole ensemble is developing well, but will need many years’ aging.  — R.V.  (12/31/2010)

Albert Bichot 2010 Domaine du Clos Frantin Pinot Noir (Chambertin)

  • Cellar Selection
The king of the Gevrey-Chambertin grand crus, this powerful, concentrated Chambertin is a blockbuster. It is currently dominated by its structure, which hides the ripe fruit. Made from grapes sourced from the upper portion of the Chambertin vineyard, this selection also has a mineral element, and it promises considerable aging potential.  — R.V.  (4/1/2013)

Albert Bichot 2005 Domaine Long-Depaquit Moutonne Grand Cru Chardonnay (Chablis)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $97
Initially this is closed up, then the wood and the superbly rich fruit assert themselves, unfolding into toast, lime, tropical fruits, plums and a dense, fresh acidity. It is still coming together, working up to being a superb wine. Give it 10 years.  — R.V.  (2/1/2008)

Albert Bichot 2006 Domaine Long-Depaquit Moutonne Grand Cru Chardonnay (Chablis)

  1. $90
This monopole within the Chablis grand cru vineyards produces top Chablis. In 2006, the wine is powerful, but layered with intense minerality, a flinty character on top of the ripe white and yellow fruits. It has concentration, a depth of flavor that is impressive. It will age well.  — R.V.  (5/1/2009)

Beautiful wine, with all the power of this great appellation allied to a sense of style and elegance. The texture is rich, packed with lemon and yellow fruits, and, at the same time, a finely judged layer of wood. The potential for aging is considerable.  — R.V.  (11/1/2010)

Albert Bichot 2010 Domaine du Pavillon Chardonnay (Corton-Charlemagne)

Powerful and complex, this shows the density that comes from Chardonnay sourced on the hill of Corton. The rich tropical-fruit flavors are structured, which gives this wine strong aging potential. Keep it for at least six years.  — R.V.  (4/1/2013)

Albert Bichot 2008 Pinot Noir (Bonnes-Mares)

A distinguished wine, with power and richness but also dignity. The structure is more fine than firm, showing some dark tannins but more black fruits. There is a mineral edge, giving some good tension, the wine finishing dense.  — R.V.  (12/31/2010)
