Albert Bichot

While the Bichot family has called Burgundy its home since 1350, it wasn’t until 1831 that the name was associated with wine. Bernard Bichot established a wine merchant house that year just south of Beaune hence creating the early beginnings of Albert Bichot Winery. At the end of the 19th century, Bernard’s grandson Albert Bichot brought new enthusiasm to the business and relocated its headquarters to the heart of Beaune. Today, Albert Bichot is on its 6th generation of family management with Alberic Bichot as acting CEO. Albert Bichot vineyards are located within their four estates which are situated in some of the most sought-after areas of Burgundy including Chablis, Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune and Cote Chalonnaise according to our Albert Bichot reviews. In addition to utilizing grapes from their own vineyard sites, Albert Bichot carefully sources grapes in order to vinify and age its négociant Albert Bichot wines to their high quality standards. Clos des Mouches is one of the top Beaune premier crus for both red and white wines. This rich selection offers wood-derived flavors that show through the racy mineral and yellow fruit notes. The finish is both rich and crisp, with mouth-watering acidity.  — R.V.  (4/1/2013)

Albert Bichot 2003 Domaine du Clos Frantin Pinot Noir (Grands-Echezeaux)

  1. $190
A big, structured but juicy wine that exudes perfumed Pinot Noir. Almost Californian in its richness, it has layers of dry tannins that make its pedigree clear. There is also impressive freshness and acidity to give the whole wine a lift. Imported by Eagle Eye Imports.  — R.V.  (9/1/2005)

Albert Bichot 2003 Domaine du Clos Frantin Les Malconsorts Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Vosne-Romanée)

  1. $110
The elegance of the vineyard overcomes the richness of the vintage to yield a classic Vosne. While there is a new wood element, it is not too dominant, but supports the fruit tannins, the sweet red fruit and the long, dry but fresh finish. Imported by Eagle Eye Imports.  — R.V.  (9/1/2005)

Albert Bichot 2006 Domaine du Clos Frantin Les Malconsorts Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Vosne-Romanée)

  • Editors' Choice
The instant appeal of seductive Pinot Noir is here, with its ripe fruits that are poised between sweetness and a pure line of acidity. The fruit is juicy, but always fresh, with wild strawberry flavors and just some spice from wood.  — R.V.  (12/31/2008)

Albert Bichot 2010 Domaine du Pavillon Rugiens Premier Cru Pinot Noir (Pommard)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
Rugiens, which is named after its red soil, is located in the south of Pommard. Dense, structured and powerful, this is a brooding wine that has concentrated tannins and fruit that is offset by a tight line of acidity. This is a wine that demands aging.  — R.V.  (4/1/2013)

Albert Bichot 2003 Domaine Long-Depaquit Grand Cru Les Vaudésirs Chardonnay (Chablis)

  • Online Exclusive
For a Chablis, this is no lightweight. But it does have a great flavor of green plums and layers of minerality to go with its richness. And it has great acidity to give it a lift and a fresh aftertaste.  — R.V.  (12/31/2006)

Albert Bichot 2005 Domaine du Pavillon Premier Cru Clos des Mouches Chardonnay (Beaune)

This is a wine that has lightness and freshness as dominant characters. Yes, there is fine green fruit, with a backbone structure of white currants, but the acidity, well supported by wood, is what gives the wine shape and a vivid, fresh aftertaste.  — R.V.  (5/1/2008)
