Allegrini 1993 Recioto Superiore Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  1. $40
A wine style for mature adults. Enjoying an Amarone requires patience and understanding-you must let this wine open, preferably in a decanter. At the table, there is nothing better suited to game, mushrooms or strong cheeses. This might even be a value at $80.  — W.E.  (11/15/1999)

Allegrini 1998 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $65
Black as coal and a true powerhouse. The nose dishes out tons of bacon, chocolate, caramel and prune-like fruit. Then comes the regal but complex palate that is much like the liquid version of fruitcake: there’s liqueur, raisins and dark chocolate in abundance. A rich, smooth mouthfeel solidifies it as a dynamite wine. Cellar Selection.  — W.E.  (5/1/2003)

Allegrini 2007 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  1. $75
There’s a touch of apple skin or citrus freshness here that gives this wine a bright, polished feel overall. In the mouth, however, this hearty Amarone delivers excellent structure, staying power and long-lasting red fruit flavors.  — M.L.  (12/1/2011)
