Andretti 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $28
Lush, delicious and hedonistic, an instantly appealing Cab due to its long, deep flavors of blackcurrants, rich overlay of toasty oak, and smooth texture. The tannins are strong, but they’re ripe and sweet and provide a nice angular structure to this impressive wine.  — S.H.  (4/1/2004)

Andretti 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $30
Here’s a wine that needs time to show its stuff, but it’s very good in its youth. Dark and thick, with strong dusty tannins, but a core of blackberry fruit. Cellar it until 2005 and try again.  — S.H.  (11/15/2002)

Andretti 1999 Merlot (Napa Valley)

  1. $20
This is the kind of full-bodied, dry red wine that you can set on your table with complete confidence because it’s world-class good. Rich, ripe fruit is nicely balanced with earthy, tobacco flavors, the whole framed in soft but complex tannins and plush oak. It’s fairly high in acidity, which may have been added later, but works to offset the ripe sweetness with…  — S.H.  (6/1/2002)

Andretti 2005 Syrah (Napa Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $33
Richness stars in this soft, voluptuous Syrah. It seduces with ripe blackberry, plum, blueberry and cherry jam flavors, veined with licorice and mocha, and dusted with peppery, cinnamon spices. It’s not structured enough to be an ager, but is elegant now.  — S.H.  (11/1/2007)

Andretti 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $30
There’s something about this lush Cab that keeps you reaching for more. It’s soft and velvety, with just enough tannins to keep things perky, but best of all are the flavors. Blackberries and cherries, dusted with cocoa, sprinkled with a dash of cinnamon, and drizzled with crème de cassis. Yummy.  — S.H.  (12/1/2005)

Andretti 2001 Merlot (Napa Valley)

  1. $24
This beautifully crafted Merlot shows a near-perfect balance of ripe plum, cherry and cassis-accented fruit with deeper notes of herbs, coffee and dark unsweetened chocolate. It glides across the palate with a velvety texture and finishes long. Could use a tad more concentration, but it’s a lovely wine.  — S.H.  (4/1/2004)

Andretti 2001 Chardonnay (Napa Valley)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $16
Broad flavors of apples and peaches are framed in spicy oak, with hints of vanilla and char. The wine is dry but very rich, with enough acidity to make the fruit sparkle. The finish is long.  — S.H.  (12/15/2002)

Andretti 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $28
A charming, delicious Cab, with pretty flavors of blackcurrants and spiced plums, and rich, complex tannins. Feels solid and complete in the mouth, and the long, spicy finish is dry. Shows a lot of class and elegance.  — S.H.  (11/15/2003)
