Antinori-Matte 2002 Albis Cabernet Sauvignon-Carmenère (Maipo Valley)

  1. $55
Bulky and big, with initial green oak that morphs into coffee and vanilla. Red fruit in the mouth, with good tannins that create a plush feel. Lots of wood and espresso on the finish, with persistence. Expect better in 2003 from this Antinori-Matte joint venture; the inaugural ’01 was excellent. Imported by Remy Cointreau USA.  — M.S.  (7/1/2006)
