Anton Bauer 2008 Grande Reserve Grüner Veltliner (Wagram-Donauland)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $48
In a creamy style, with green plum and pear flavors spiced with green pepper sauce, the wine rolls richly around the mouth. The finish is freshened deliciously by acidity. Screwcap.  — R.V.  (12/31/2009)

Anton Bauer 2008 Rosenberg Reserve Grüner Veltliner (Wagram-Donauland)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $22
There’s great ripe fruit here, a wine that has both intense pepperiness and fresh acidity, speaking of terroir. While the wine is intense, it is also as crisp as possible, finally well concentrated and firm. Screwcap.  — R.V.  (12/31/2009)

Anton Bauer 2002 Reserve Riesling (Donauland)

  1. $18
There’s a hint of apricot, maybe some tangerine on the nose, but this is a dry Riesling, filled with similar hints to its flavors and culminating in a long, spicy flourish. Shows some intriguing chalky-minerally notes on the finish.  — J.C.  (12/15/2004)

Anton Bauer 2003 Reserve Grüner Veltliner (Donauland)

  1. $20
Reticent on the nose, yielding stony, waxy notes but little else. It’s medium-bodied and a bit austere on the palate as well, but then the stone and melon flavors open out on the finish into lemon, hints of pepper and celery leaf. Imported by Prescott Wines.  — J.C.  (3/1/2006)

Anton Bauer 2003 Wagram Cuvée No. 9 Red (Donauland)

  1. $20
The heat of 2003 figures in this wine, which boasts outsized flavors of superripe fruit, ranging from peaches and apricots to cherries. Then it finishes on notes of anise and pepper. It’s all almost Grenache-like, despite being a blend of Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Imported by Prescott Wines.  — J.C.  (3/1/2006)

Anton Bauer 2001 Wagram Reserve Red (Donauland)

Starts with clove, coffee and plum on the nose, while the flavors follow in a similar vein: plum, coffee and dried spices. Medium-weight, with a tangy finish filled with soft tannins. Ready to drink. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Blaüfrankisch and Zweigelt, with tiny amounts of Syrah and Merlot. Imported by Select Wines.  — J.C.  (5/1/2005)

Anton Bauer 2005 Trocken Rosé (Donauland)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $12
Having tasted the 2006 informally, go for that vintage if it's available in your market. The 2005 is still hanging in there, but its strawberry flavors are starting to fade. Remains dry and clean on the finish.  — J.C.  (7/1/2007)
