Ardenvoir 2008 Artist Series Sémillon (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $22
The second edition of Chateau Rollat’s Ardenvoir Sémillon includes eight percent Sauvignon Blanc in the blend, a nice addition that tightens up the mouthfeel. Barrel fermented, it’s bursting with rich tropical fruit flavors, Meyer lemon, sweet toasted cracker and caramel, an exceptionally concentrated and full-bodied wine.  — P.G.  (12/1/2009)

Ardenvoir 2009 Chardonnay (Columbia Valley (WA))

  1. $25
A new offering from Ardenvoir, this Chardonnay is as Burgundian as any in Washington. Fine, tart and racy fruit is married to top-notch French oak. The meld of vivid apple and citrus flavors to mineral-soaked acidity and a frame of toasted coconut is marvelously seductive. Ageworthy but already delicious.  — P.G.  (9/1/2011)

Ardenvoir 2007 Sémillon (Columbia Valley (WA))

Silky and luscious, this extraordinary Sémillon from the makers of the Chateau Rollat red wines sends up cascading scents of orange blossom, orange peel, citrus and light tropical, moving into the mouth with beautifully integrated fruits dappled with honey and tea. Elegant and impressively long, it concludes with a light kiss of toast.  — P.G.  (3/1/2009)

Ardenvoir 2009 Sauvignon Blanc (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $19
Intense from the first sniff right on through the last lingering aftertaste, this seems far more extracted than its 13% alcohol would indicate. Concentrated fruit flavors of citrus flesh and citrus rind, married to the snap and sizzle of Sauvignon’s grassy acidity. Amazing depth.  — P.G.  (9/1/2011)

Ardenvoir 2008 Sauvignon Blanc (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $19
This captures the essential flavors of Washington Sauvignon Blanc. There are no aggressive grassy-herbal flavors, none of the vegetal or canned pea flavors that show up in other New World Sauv Blancs. Here it’s all about clean melon and yellow fruit flavors, backed with bracing natural acids, round and ripe.  — P.G.  (12/1/2009)

Ardenvoir 2007 Rosé (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $16
As one might expect, this is Washington rosé with a French touch, courtesy of consulting winemaker Christian LeSommer. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cab Franc, given a four-hour soak and then fermented in neutral oak, it is exceptional in every way. Silky and flavorful with a mix of peach and strawberry, vanilla cookie and amazing length.  — P.G.  (3/1/2009)

Ardenvoir 2009 Rosé (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $16
This excellent rosé is one of a handful given extra bottle age before release, and it rewards that time with unusual flavors––rhubarb and strawberry, hints of banana and a touch of creamsicle in the fade. Not typical in any way, but tasty and full-bodied.  — P.G.  (9/1/2011)
