Babcock 2003 Frying Pan Syrah (Santa Barbara County)

Obviously youthful, with some reductive notes that need time to dissipate. Once it comes around, you get straight-ahead plum and blackberry fruit, vanilla and coffee notes and the merest hint of bacon fat (we love that!). Really nice wine that seems to fall off a bit on the finish.  — W.E.  (9/1/2005)
