Garnet-ruby hue with slightly browning rim. Savory aromas of cured meat, cola, dried fruit and rum cake upfront, while warm earthy, tobacco and leather tones fill in the rear. Here’s a dark and well concentrated Brunello with aromas that recall wild berries and appleskin. The fresh intensity of those aromas suggest slight volatility, but this doesn’t seem to distract too much from the overall picture. In the mouth, the wine is very polished and squeaky clean. — M.L.
