Barzagoso 2001 Crianza Red (Rioja)
Price
$14
Rose-colored, with subdued aromas of cherry tomato, dried red fruits, mint and leather. By modern standards, it’s light and starchy, but the cherry and raspberry flavors are solid and easy to like. Better than inoffensive even if it’s ultimately a simple, clean wine and nothing more. Imported by 57 Main Street Wine Co.

Barzagoso 2000 Reserva Red (Rioja)
Price
$25
Light red berry aromas with touches of cinnamon and vanilla. Lean and scouring on the palate in a traditional way, with tangy cherry and berry flavors. Finishes with some caramel and leather. Old-style and probably not for the modern palate. Imported by 57 Main Street Wine Co.

Barzagoso 2004 Crianza Tempranillo (Rioja)
Online Exclusive
Price
$16
Dry black cherry and berry fruit shows some early chemical accents, and the wine stays sort of thin and hard all the way to the end. It’s peppery and tight, with a simple dark-fruit personality. A little awkward at 14.5%.
